Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival – Bujumbura
Our guide will meet you at the Bujumbura International Airport and take you to your lodge so you can rest and spend the night. If time permits, you will also do a quick tour of the city.
Accommodation: Hotel Club Du Lac Tanganyika.
Meals: (Lunch, Dinner).
Day 2: Boat Cruise on Rusizi River – Visit Lake Tanganyika
After breakfast, you’ll head to Rusizi National Park for a boat excursion where you might spot monkeys, antelopes, hippopotamuses, and numerous other beautiful bird species. Before spending the night at the lodge, you will visit Lake Tanganyika for a beach meal afterward.

Day 3: Kibira National Park Primate Walk
After an early breakfast, you will depart Bujumbura for your ultimate primate walk in Kibira National Park, which is home to 98 mammal species, about 200 bird species, and twelve different species of primates, including several families of chimpanzees, baboons, red-tailed monkeys, and black colobus. You will return to the lodge for rest and overnight after your trek.

Day 4: Visit Gishora Drum Sanctuary.
Depending on when the event is happening, our guide will advise you on the ideal time to leave to see one of Africa’s greatest drum exhibitions. In Burundi, the drums were the foundation of the monarchy’s political power. On important occasions, specialised family known as “Abatimbo” created them and beat them. They supplied the seasonal rhythm and notified national events like the burials of the monarchs, the sowing festival, and the royal coronation.

Day 5: Bujumbura City Tour – Departure
After breakfast, you’ll head to Bujumbura for a guided tour of the city. Bujumbura was first established as a German military installation in the early 20th century. It is home to a number of important locations, such as the location where Burton Speke and Livingston first met, examples of Bauhaus architecture, memorials celebrating democratic and independent warriors, and daily life. You will finally be taken to the airport for your next journey, and you won’t regret spending time in this vibrant city of Burundi.
