This 5 Days Rwanda Primate Tracking Safari allows you to get up close and personal with endangered primates in their natural habitat. Go on guided gorilla hikes in Volcanoes National Park to search for one of the ten habituated gorilla groups. You will visit Nyungwe Forest National Park in southwest Rwanda, which is home to endangered chimpanzees and colobus monkeys, to enhance the experience. The Nyungwe Forest’s canopy walk, which offers a breathtaking aerial experience, is another draw. Mountain gorillas and chimpanzees together make for an amazing Rwandan primate trekking experience. Starting and ending points for the five-day primates adventure are in Kigali.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park.
After picking you up from your hotel or place of residence in Kigali, our tour guide will drive you the six hours to Nyungwe Forest National Park, Rwanda’s chimpanzee sanctuary. See the lush landscape as you travel, and get to the resort in time for lunch. While you get ready for the activities of the next day, spend the afternoon unwinding at the lodge.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking – Canopy Walk Experience.
You will depart early in the morning for a briefing in Kyamudongo Forest before beginning your chimpanzee tracking expedition, which could take several hours because chimps typically travel far into the bush. Once you’ve seen them, you’ll travel back to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, you can do a forest canopy walk to get a beautiful aerial view of the forest.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
You will embark on an amazing journey to Volcanoes National Park in the early morning, with stops for lunch and photography en route. In the afternoon, arrive in Volcanoes National Park and unwind at your lodge.
Accommodation: Five Volcanoes Hotel, Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge, Da Vinci Lodge.
Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking Experience.
You will be taken to the park headquarters in the morning for a briefing before going on your gorilla tracking expedition. You will return and make your way back to your lodge to unwind. You will visit the Gorilla Guardians Village, formerly known as Iby’wachu Cultural Village, in the evening for a cultural experience.

Day 5: Golden Monkey Tracking – Return to Kigali.
You will go to the park headquarters early in the morning for a briefing before beginning the tracking of golden monkeys. Transfer back to Kigali after your trip to be dropped off at your hotel or the airport.
